I am posting this – not because I believe that TV is one of the Finest Things in life, but if you do absolutely have to watch TV – American Idol is one of the Finest Things on the tube. I have been a loyal fan since the very first season when Texan Kelly Clarkson won (I even voted some unbelievable number of times using two phones). Since that first season I have watched each season but it has only been after the top ten have been picked. And I don’t call to vote anymore.
Not only is the show fine – many of the top 5 from previous seasons have gone on to do amazingly well. Jennifer Hudson went on to win numerous awards including an Oscar for her very first starring role in a movie – Dreamgirls. If you never have seen this movie, you must at least rent it, to see Hudson’s magnificent performance.
Kelly Clarkson from year one has had two top albums – number three was different but I loved it. Kelly wrote all of the songs on her third album. She is working on her fourth album now. I went to see her in concert and she is fabulous – my good ole’ Texas gal has also won a ton of music awards and has established herself as one of best pop singer in the US and around the world.
Carrie Underwood from two seasons ago, is on the top in the country field taking Nashville by storm – many, many wonderful songs and also many, many top country singer awards.
Clay Aiken, runner-up in season two, has released three hit albums and is now starring in Spamalot on Broadway. In fact there are three Idol ex’s currently on Broadway.
Rumor has it that this might be the last season and the show is down to the Top 5. There has been lots of drama because this year’s top ten have all had beautiful voices and personality and from this week on, another fan favorite will have to go until there are only two left leading to the shows final week which is the week you have to watch. In fact, my opinion is that next Tuesday is the night to turn in and get hooked – because it’s a brilliant show.
Fox Network – you guys have made a ton of money off the 5 or is it 6 seasons of Idol. I give American Idol, five stars and 2 thumbs up.
