It has been reported that Tiger Woods has had reconstructive surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee and doctors reported the surgery was a success. His media company reported that the surgery, performed by Dr. Thomas D. Rosenberg and Dr. Vernon J. Cooley, was performed at Park City, Utah, where Dr. Cooley did arthroscopic surgery on Woods’ same knee in April of this year.
At a press conference Dr. Rosenberg said, “We were confident going in to this surgery and I am pleased with the results. There were no surprises during the procedure, and as we have said, with the proper rehabilitation and training, it is highly unlikely that Mr. Woods will have any long-term effects as it relates to his career.”
There was no projected timetable for Woods’ return to the tour and no rehabilitation schedule was discussed. Woods’ representative said that Tiger is already anxious to start his rehabilitation and training.
